Product of the Month: Elan Vital Series by WATERMARK

Taking industrial design one step further, Elan Vital utilizes lever handles that are reminiscent of commercial ball vales except these use ¼” turn washerless ceramic disc cartridges. With Elan Vital, you specify the height, width and length you want or need and in which of Watermark Designs 39 finishes (including their new Aged Brass, shown in image) you want the finished product. Elan Vital may look as though it was plucked from an 18th century factory, but it has all the modern touches: a low-flow aerator (finished with intricate knurled metal), and the shower uses the industry’s smallest exposed thermostatic valve, giving the cleanest aesthetic for designers. You have never seen anything like this.

Product of the Month: Savoy Collection by Zucchetti

Characterized by simple pure primary shapes, Savoy is a project unique in its versatility and customization possibilities. Its many different finishes and decorative solutions for handles and covers give very different aesthetic results: design-oriented and minimal in matte black and white; classic but original, in chrome teamed with top surfaces in burgundy, ocean blue and/or bottle green, refined and elegant, in total chrome and/or platinum.   The cylindrical handle is available opaque varnished, lacquered or chromed, while the standard cover comes either smooth or textured. The surface can also be customized with logos (of a hotel chain for example), with the traditional initials H for hot and C for cold and/or with bespoke words created for the client, thanks to innovative technology borrowed from the fashion accessory industry. Simple no-frills shapes are enriched by exclusive details and can be customized to meet the taste and needs of clients. Possible combinations are therefore infinite and always different. Savoy turns customization into decoration. 2013 has started with the assignment of two prestigious awards for the SAVOY collection by Zucchetti : Good Design Award and Design Plus, two of the most important awards.

The James Hotel (New York, NY)

The James New York brings luxury liberated from tradition to Soho. Located on the corner of Thompson and Grand, the newly built property is conceived and designed as a locally inspired, community focused and environmentally thoughtful hotel. Outdoor spaces throughout the hotel include an Urban Garden and rooftop pool deck and bar. A two-story glass wall in The Sky Lobby offers views of the Urban Garden along with area views of the neighboring sculpture garden. The hotel features expansive and unobstructed city views, with a panoramic rooftop vista of both the East and Hudson rivers. In homage to the creative neighborhood it calls home, The James New York features a mix of local artists both prominent and up-and-coming.
